TAKEOFF at the Vic Jiu Jitsu Championships

If you didnt know... TakeOff was a sponsor at the prestigious AFBJJ Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championships held last weekend (Mar 19-20) at the Melbourne Sports Aquatic Centre.
The event showcased the highest performance jiu jitsu ever seen in Australia. Congratulations to everyone who challenged themselves by fighting in the event, however some special mentions (not all...) go out to...

The Champion team- Team Peter De Been - 100% Jiu Jitsu.

Despite having destroyed his knee in an early fight on finals day, nothing could stop Blue Belt Chris Rhode (Below, of Team De Been) from winning gold in all four divisions.

Purple Belt Kit Dale (of Team DeBeen) submitted all but one person with an arm lock to win gold in four divisions in the purple belt division. Kits performance was nothing short of incredi
ble to witness. Kit was also the winner of the Australian Abu Dhabi Trials (Blue belt) and is heading off to fight in Abu Dhabi this April... GO KIT!!!

Competing as a Brown Belt for the first time didn't stop Angus Friend from repeatedly
submitting opponents with triangle chokes to win two gold. Another Brown Belt Grant 'G-Force' Livermore also had a fantastic day winning two gold and one silver medal.

In the Black Belts, lightweight 'Viera' (Cia Paulista Jiu Jitsu) didn't mind stepping up to fight middleweight as he danced over his opponents before submitting them to win gold.

Heavyweights Dan Cherubin and Mick Wilson took down all comers to continue their domination of Australian Jiu Jitsu competition. Both fighters put on a series of inspiring displays on the final day.

In between fights Kit Dale kept himself fueled up with TakeOff banana & protein smoothies from the TakeOff stand.

Special thanks goes to the AFBJJ, the De Been family, all the volunteers, spectators and of course the competitors for making the event into the massive success it was!

Look out for the 2010 Australian Champions Cup- Australia's only mobile Jiu Jitsu event, to be held in Perth in September...
